Body

Shirley Adams, 77, joined her heavenly family, Monday, July 10, 2023. She was born September 15, 1945 in Corpus Christi to Mitchell and Irene (Wendel) Rohan.

Shirley was born with cerebral palsy but that was never a “handicap” for Shirley. She grew up struggling to move with a heavy brace on her leg and sometimes crutches but she was a determined person, proving to the world that she could do whatever she decided to. She grew up in Cuero, graduated from Cuero High School in 1963 and became a LVN nurse in 1965. She married Wes Adams June 6, 1970 and they made Yoakum their home. Shirley babysat many children and they loved “Miss Shirley” for life. Shirley had a way with people, she related to them on their level and loved them unconditionally. She was always ready to help anyone in need, sharing her giggles and good attitude. She always said “Life is what you make of it”. Her health struggles were difficult, but her faith was stronger. She always said “God knows and he will get me through”. Run free with the angels Shirley, with your giggles, your infectious smile and your words of wisdom. We love you and will miss you always.

Survivors are her husband of 53 years, Wes Adams of Yoakum; daughters, Katy Adams and husband James Bonham Sala of Dripping Springs; boys, Matt, Jason and Caleb Karl; sisters, Pat Proske of Schulenburg, Connie Murray of Victoria and Rosie Surratt of Lubbock; brother and sister-in-law, James and Barbara Adams of Houston.

Preceded in death by her parents; infant brother; special grandson, Travis Karl.
