“These guys know it’s still not over”

Looking for their first district win of the season, Cuero left it all out on the court. Trailing most of the night and late into the fourth quarter, though, Beeville scratched their way back and scored at the buzzer to send the game to overtime. Beeville took control in overtime, but a desperation three by Payton Walk forced a second overtime. It looked to be Cuero’s night, but it was not to be, as they fell, 72-68.
“It’s crazy how much heart these guys actually have,” head coach Kennon Dvorak stated. “They showed it. They’re right where they need to be.”
Dvorak emphasized the importance of the little things to his team.
“It sounds kind of like a broken record, and when we played Somerset they showed this kind of fight,” he added. “At the end, it’s those little things that matter. That’s one of the biggest things we always talk about: the little things. Tonight was proof of that: an offensive rebound that we missed or a layup that we gave up or we missed ourselves. Those things all add up.”
