Alexander to compete in state golf tournament

Like every amateur golfer across the state and country, Yorktown’s Drew Alexander missed out on last season because of covid. After narrowly missing state qualification as a freshman two years ago, his sophomore season was completely wiped out.
Coming into his junior year, Alexander’s mindset has been set on simply picking up where he left off and reaching the state tournament. That goal became a reality last Tuesday, April 20, when he finished third overall and as the first place medalist at the Region IV-2A tournament in Corpus Christi.
“It was pretty good considering last year I thought I had a good chance, but covid cut everything off,” Alexander said of advancing to state. “I was definitely very nervous at the beginning of my junior year, not having a chance to go, yet.”
