Whether it’s slinging touchdown passes, swishing three-pointers, putting down a birdie, or excelling in the classroom, Drew Alexander always competed at a high level during his time in a Yorktown Wildcat uniform.

The recent Yorktown High School class of 22’ graduate, officially chose his college destination this past Thursday, July 28, giving the golf program at Texas Lutheran University a huge boost.

During the recruiting process, Alexander saw several junior colleges to division one schools inquire about him, but the support TLU showed over his senior year ultimately guided him to his new destination in Seguin.

“They were the first school to actually offer me and were one of the only schools that came to watch me during state. I feel like I had the most support from TLU and that’s why I wanted to sign there,” stated Alexander on his decision.

Alexander was no stranger to getting a taste of the competition level from around the state after making UIL State golf tournament appearances as a junior and senior.

“It was definitely way more competitive when we got to state,” said Alexander. “We played tournaments around here and at the 2A level it’s not very competitive, but at state, it was definitely an eye opener to see other good golfers and how well I was playing against good golfers.”
