The Yorktown Wildcats traveled to Stockdale for their last preseason game before starting district play this upcoming week. Unfortunately, the football team succumbed to the Brahmas, 7-33. The Wildcats were held scoreless during the first period while the purple and white team scored on a 39 yard run from their quarterback with a little over 4 minutes left on the clock.

The Wildcats took the lead with 7:21 left in the second period, 6-7.  Andres Archuleta would make a catch in the middle of the field from 24 yards out to get the Wildcats on the board. He would also sail the ball through the uprights on the extra point to overcome the Brahmas. This would be the Wildcat’s only score of the night. Stockdale’s quarterback would be hard to contain as he was able to drive his team down the field.  Stockdale would punch it in from the two yard line extending their lead at half, 7-13.

Stockdale’s quarterback, Camden Derricoattte, would prove to be too much for the Wildcat defense as he would go on to score 4 touchdowns throughout the night.  Yorktown’s quarterback, Dalton Eckhardt, would also be his team’s leading rusher. He would have 15 carries for 108 yards. The third period would end with the Wildcats trailing, 7-19.  Stockdale’s Derricoatte would score after halftime on a 60 yard run on the opening play for the Brahmas.

During the fourth period, the Stockdale Brahmas would score two more times before kneeling on the ball. At 10:46 Derricoatte would score on a 6 yard run. Down 7-26 and with 8:50 remaining on the clock the Wildcats would throw their second interception of the night giving the Brahmas good field position. Derricoatte would scamper into the end zone from 29 yards back, 7-33.
