Baker blanks Bears

There was no way around it. Cuero needed a win, when they faced La Vernia at home last Thursday night, April 22. After starting district 0-3, they were in need for big performances.
“It was a must win,” Cuero coach Phil Schwarz said. “We knew our backs were against the wall. It was good. We’ve been struggling so much to score runs. It was just good to get that first inning where we scored four runs and kinda get the monkey off our back, and we could kind of relax a little bit. I think that’s what happened.”
Senior first baseman Caden Lange provided that clutch hit in the first inning after Jacob Baker got out of a jam in the top half, leading Cuero to a 6-0 district win.
