For many teams, the past week meant the end of their basketball season. While some will switch gears into baseball mode, a select few will begin their playoff run.

The Nordheim Pirates have been on a winning streak as of late, adding to that with two more wins last week. On Tuesday, they defeated Austwell-Tivoli in Tivoli by a final of 33-29. Coming home on Friday, they would defeat Bruni 55-38 to maintain the streak. Overall in District play, the Pirates have only dropped on game, placing them atop the 1A Region IV District 32 standings.

The Lady Pirates would also crush Austwell-Tivoli 60-37 to secure them a second place finish in District. Their first playoff game was scheduled for Tuesday, January 133 against Leakey in Tilden. The final score of that game was not available at press time.

Yorktown Junior High B Team would defeat Louise on Monday by a score of 13-10. The seventh grade team would fall to Louise that same night, 32-21. The eighth grade boys team came away with a 31-17 win to cap off the night.
