CHS Trotters make the most of home summer camp

Summer camps have not been the same for the Cuero High School Trotters in 2020. Though they were unable to travel to San Marcos for their annual Universal Dance Association (UDA) camp, they were able to host camp, July 20-23.
Six Trotters were named All-American Dancers: Kaylee Trevino, Nevaeh Hopkins, Valerie Guerrero, Haelie Hale, Alice Thacker, and Lizzy Ortiz.
For the first time in Naomi Tarin’s tenure as Trotters dance team director, a UDA instructor came to Cuero. It was a unique experience, with one Trotter even participating from home, but it was clear they were all pleased to have the opportunity.
“It was a lot different compared to usual,” Trevino said, 2020-2021 Trotters captain. “We usually go out of town to San Marcos, but I think it was worth it. We got a lot more out of it than we usually do at out of town camps. I think it was a good experience for all of the girls, and everyone improved over the week.”
First Lieutenant, Hopkins, agreed that even though the camp was at home, they were able to get more out of it.
“I think we made the best out of it,” Hopkins said. “We did really good this week, the new girls especially. They did their best. It’s very new, very different for them. Overall, it was really good.”
