Eleven individual district championships were won by Cuero at last week’s District 27-4A meet. Held at Gobbler Stadium on March 30-31, both the Gobblers and Lady Gobblers also took home the team titles. The Cuero boys finished with 180 points, 15 ahead of La Vernia, while the Lady Gobblers posted a 34-point win over Navarro.

Individually, Beau Fournet was the top varsity boy with 30 points, posting wins in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.

Davyon Williams, though, not only won high jump but tied Will Littleton’s school record of six feet and 10 inches and nearly cleared 6-11.

“My body was feeling good,” Williams said after finishing. “The wind would start, so I would wait, then my body would start getting tired. The last jump, I felt good but not really. I feel like I’m getting my technique and stuff down. I’m going up each week, so I feel like I can get it next week,” referring to hitting 6-11.
