Eight Nordheim athletes headed to Regionals
The Nordheim Pirates and Lady Pirates traveled to Fayetteville this past Wednesday, April 20, to compete in the Area track meet. Competing for a spot in this week’s regional meet, all eight athletes would go on to qualify for the regional meet that will be held in Webster, Texas on April 29-30.
Senior Danielle Wilson took home gold in the discus and second in the shot put. Wilson placed sixth overall last season at the State meet and is just a couple of throws away from returning again this season. Her throwing partner, Emagen Styra, would place right behind her for second in the discus, and took home gold in the shot put. Senior Braylon Williams qualified for regionals in two separate events placing second overall in the 100-meter dash and taking home third in the 200-meter dash. Ryan Schuenemann, rounding out the Nordheim seniors, finished his day with two silver medals taking second in both the shot put and discus. Ryan made it to the regional meet last season and is looking to qualify for the State meet this go around. Abby Klein, a freshman, would go on to qualify for both the 1200-meter run and the 800-meter run bringing home second in the 1200 and fourth in the 800.
