Summer is in full swing, but the Cuero Junior League Softball team is still hard at work. For the first time in Cuero Little League’s history, they have advanced to the state tournament following their win over Rockport on July 4.
They will next play in the Texas East State Tournament July 12-15 in El Campo. Three of the last four years, the junior league team have qualified for sectionals but come up short in their efforts for a state berth. That changed this year.
During the district tournament this year, Cuero beat La Vernia once and New Braunfels twice. In total, they scored 40 runs while only allowing one.
They only needed two wins over Rockport to win sectionals.
