Gobblers, Lady Gobblers win district 30-4A track meet
The 2018 track and field postseason kicked off as planned with Cuero High School dominating the District 30-4A championships. The varsity boys won their third consecutive title, while the varsity girls captured the win for the second year in a row. Not to be outdone, both Cuero JV teams also earned district titles.
The varsity boys scored 220 points over the two-day competition from April 4-5 at Gobbler Stadium, defeating second place Beeville by 80 points.
The Gobbler boys boasted nine gold medals, including all three relays. Long distance runner Will Green won the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs; Claevon Patton won the 400 meter dash; Jared Love won the 300 meter hurdles; Jayden Mitchell won triple jump and Jacob Cuellar won pole vault.
On the varsity girls side, Cuero finished with 197 points, 35 more than Pleasanton. The Lady Gobblers earned seven gold medals, including a win in the 400 meter relay.
Ibree Coe won the 100 and 200 meter dash; Brooke Wendel won the 1600 meter and 3200 meter run; Madison Gibson won high jump and Mackenzie Blain won pole vault.
