Gobblers look to slow down Navarro rushing attack

Behind one of the best Slot-T offenses in the state, Geronimo-Navarro ride an eight-game winning streak into Friday’s game against Cuero. This season marks the seventh consecutive year Cuero and Navarro have played with the Gobblers taking six of the first seven, including two wins last season.
This year, though, Navarro have one of the top 10 teams in 4A-Division II, while the Gobblers are in the midst of a rebuild with nearly an entirely new team of sophomores and juniors attempting to make improvements each time on the field.
The Gobblers are coming off of their first district win last Thursday night against Austin Eastside Memorial. Cuero will try to slow down a rushing attack from Navarro averaging 391 yard per game.
Senior Eular DeLeon, Dave Campbell’s preseason offensive MVP for District 13, leads the Panthers with 1,119 yards on 99 carries and 18 touchdowns. He’s passed the century mark in seven of eight games this eason.
