Monday night, the Wildcat Junior High teams kicked off the final basketball games before the Christmas break. The eighth grade boys traveled to Flatonia, where they fell by a score of 26 to 51 in the Bulldogs favor. Akeem Jones led the team with ten points, followed by Kelon Barefiled with eight. The B Team would fall 35-10. Ben balderas would lead the team with six points. Trinton Silgero and Ethan Pompa would head home with two points each. The 7th grade team would also fall prey to Flatonia by a score of 68-10, with Blake Boyd and Vayden Buch each scoring four points, and Jairus Herring taking home two.
Tuesday night, the JV Wildcats would face Pettus at home to start the events of the evening. Though they would fal to Pettus, 56-37, they would be avenged by their big brothers. Putting on a clinic of basketball skills, the Varsity Wildcats would dominate Pettus throughout. With the final buzzing ringing through the air, the scoreboard reflected a 74-56 victory in Yorktown’s favor.
The Yorktown Varsity Kitty Kats traveled to Austwell Tuesday night, where they proved victorious. With a 50-32 score as the final seconds ticked off the clock, the Kitty Kats seem to have found the groove as the season progresses.
The Nordheim Pirates traveled to Flatonia on the 18th, where they would come up just short, giving the W to Flatonia via a score of 57-27. The Pirates will return to action on January 2nd against St Joseph, while the Lady Pirates return against Bruni on January 5th.
The Wildcats start the next part of their season with an away game against Charlotte on December 27th, while the Kitty Kats will not face another opponent until January 2nd when they face Runge in Yorktown.
