The Yorktown Kitty Kat 2021-22 basketball season got underway on Saturday, Nov. 6, when the Kitty Kats traveled to Ganado to take on the Maidens. Unfortunately, Yorktown came out on the short end of a 29-21 Ganado victory.

As the game began, things seemed like business as usual, as the Kitty Kats’ defense held Ganado scoreless for the entire first quarter and Yorktown led 8-0. In the second quarter, Yorktown increased its lead to 10-0 before a cold front moved in on the Yorktown offense, as they did not score again in the half and the Maidens were able to tie the game, 10-10. The third quarter was more of the same for the Kitty Kats, as they did not score until there were nine seconds left in the period when Kie Campbell made a 3-pointer. Ganado would lead 17-13 going in the final period. In the 4th quarter, the Maidens took a 24-13 lead before Yorktown went on a 6-0 run to cut the score to 24-19 with 1:30 left in the game.
