As of late, the Yorktown Kitty Kats have been on a stretch away from home. Last Tuesday, Sept. 6, they traveled to Palacios to take on the Lady Sharks.

After taking set one 25-23 the Kitty Kats dropped the next two 25-27, and 17-25. With their backs against the wall, Yorktown continued to fight hard in set four and would force a fifth set to 15. The Kitty Kats rallied to take the last set and win it 15-12.

For the night Yorktown totaled 117 digs as a unit. Their attacking percentage finished at 36.8% while they held the Lady Sharks to just a 13.6 attacking percentage. Senior Emie Bolting led with 19 kills and also added four aces, and nine digs. Braleigh Dodds had 10 kills to pair with 15 digs. Juliana Garza also contributed 10 kills, while Ayana Longoria totaled 42 digs and four aces. Kendyll Sinast and Nina Villarreal combined for 26 digs on the night.

Returning home after a 16-day hiatus the Kitty Kats squared off against Ganado on Friday, Sept. 9. All they needed was three straight sets to earn the victory. Yorktown won sets one and two with ease 25-15, 25-16, before going back and forth down the wire in set three.

The Kitty Kats earned the set three win after a 32-30 win.
