Kitty Kats split district games

This past week, the Yorktown Kitty Kats Varsity Volleyball team hosted two district opponents and split their games.Yorktown is now 6-3 in District 28-2A play and in third place behind Skidmore-Tynan (9-0) and Woodsboro (7-2).

On Tuesday, Oct. 18, the Kitty Kats hosted first-place Skidmore-Tynan and were defeated in four games: 25-22, 19-25, 26-28, 14-25. Senior Emie Bolting and sophomore Braleigh Dodds had ten kills apiece, while sophomore Nina Villarreal had nine kills. Sophomore Malayshia Thomas had 17 assists and Dodds had 10. Bolting also had five aces and three blocks. Senior Ayana Longoria had 36 digs and Dodds had 20.

On Friday, Oct. 21, the Bloomington Lady Cats came to Yorktown and the Kitty Kats defeated them in three games: 25-15, 26-24, 25-18. Sophomore Sydnie Krueger led in kills with seven, while Bolting added five. Thomas and Dodds had seven and six assists respectively. Bolting had four aces and four blocks. Longoris had 16 digs and junior Kendyll Sinast had seven.

This week, Yorktown will close out its district schedule by hosting the Kenedy Leopards. This will also be Senior Recognition Night. The JV will play at 5 p.m. and the Varsity will play at 6 p.m.
