Kitty Kats split games, hold on to 4th place
Special to the Yorktown News-View
The Yorktown Kitty Kats split their district games last week, defeating Louise 26-25, and losing to Flatonia, 46-40. Yorktown is now 13-12 on the season and 3-5 in district play. With one game remaining, the Kitty Kats hold on to the 4th and final playoff spot. The current district standings are: Flatonia 8-1, Weimar 7-2, Shiner 6-3, Yorktown 3-6, Brazos 2-7, Louise 1-8. If Yorktown defeats Weimar on Tuesday, or if Brazos loses to Louise, the Kitty Kats will clinch their first playoff appearance since the 2014-15 season. If the Kitty Kats lose and Brazos wins, there will be a tie-breaker game played, probably on Friday, to decide who is the 4th seed out of District 29-2A. The fourth seed will face Falls City at a time and location to be determined. On Tuesday, Yorktown traveled to Louise to face the Lady Hornets. The game was a defensive struggle as the Kitty Kats led 8-5 at the end of the first quarter and 12-8 at the half. In the third quarter, Louise tied the game at 16. In final period, things got interesting.
