After only losing one game all of last season, the Yorktown Kitty Kats were in unfamiliar territory after losing their first two games this season. However, after opening the season with losses to Ganado and Nixon-Smiley, Yorktown bounced back with two impressive wins, 49-19 over the Goliad Lady Tigers, and 50-35 over the Stockdale Lady Brahmas.

After losing their season opener in Ganado, 29-21, Yorktown traveled to Nixon-Smiley to take on the Lady Mustangs on Nov. 9. Things started off terribly for the Kitty Kats, as they fell behind 10-0 before they scored. Yorktown was able to tie the game 24-24 in the second quarter before Nixon-Smiley took a 27-24 halftime lead. In the second half, the Lady Mustangs outscored the Kitty Kats, 29-22, for the 56-46 win. Senior Seely Metting led Yorktown with 21 points and 15 rebounds, while Junior Kie Campbell had 11 points.

On Tuesday, Nov. 16, Yorktown hosted the Goliad Lady Tigers and came away with their first win of the season. After a sluggish first quarter, Kitty Kats led 9-3, but then exploded in the second quarter, outscoring Goliad 24-5, to take a 33-8 halftime lead. Yorktown outscored the Lady Tigers in the second half, 16-11, for the final 49-19 win. Metting had a monster game with 24 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and six steals. Senior Kaley Lassmann added six points, while junior Madison Morehead pulled down seven rebounds.

This past Saturday, Nov. 20, the Kitty Kats traveled to Stockdale to face the Lady Brahmas. In the first quarter, Yorktown fell behind 5-2 early but went on a 14-2 run to lead 16-7 at the end of the first quarter.
