Lady Gobblers beat Hallettsville in home-opener

Lady Gobbler basketball coach Amy Crain transitioned her team to a full court man-to-man defense for the first time this season, as they played their home-opener against Hallettsville Nov. 27. Cuero came away with the win, 36-23, and played stellar defense in the process but were also a bit worn out in the second quarter. Defense led to offense in the opening quarter, as Cuero quickly scored 18 points but only had 19 at halftime. “I think we ran out of gas,” Crain noted. “Today was the first game I asked them to play full court man-to-man defense. Usually, we run a half court man. When you do that, you’re gonna get tired.”
