Cuero could not have finished district with a much more emphatic win. The Lady Gobblers routed Pleasanton, 51-21, to wrap up the regular season 17-15 and 6-2 in district. They had already secured the two seed behind Beeville but were looking to conclude the regular season strong before playoffs started Feb. 12.

The five-point overtime loss to Beeville the week before marked a crucial point in district and playoff seedings. Cuero’s only two defeats during district were to the Lady Trojans.
“We wanted to make sure we were still rolling into the playoffs and that we took care of business,” Crain noted. “We approached it with that mindset. I thought we played really well against Beeville, and I wanted them to continue with that effort.”
