Lady Gobblers drop district-opener

Kastin Heinold and the Lady Gobblers may not have earned the win in their district-opener last week against Pleasanton, but Heinold and the entire team showed flashes of things to come. She tossed four consecutive shutout frames after the first inning. Ultimately, an inability to drive in base-runners allowed the Lady Eagles to come out on top, 5-2.
When Cuero did have base-runners early in scoring position, they did come up with some hard hits, but unfortunately, they were right at the defense. “That destroys, even if it would’ve amounted to one run, some momentum,” Cuero coach Cody Miller said. “That hurt us tonight.”
As the game progressed, Cuero didn’t come up with enough clutch hits to mount a late comeback.
