The Cuero Record

With Spring Break taking place this past week the Lady Gobblers still found time to get in a couple of games. On Monday, March 14, the Lady Gobblers faced a Danbury team they have seen earlier this year in tournament action. Cuero lost that game 11-2 and struggled again losing 15-4 on Monday. The four runs came via the long ball on two separate two-run dingers by Camdyn Lange and Camdyn Apodackis. “Defensively it has been a struggle for us as of late. I think the most frustrating thing is that it's plays we have made in the past. The teams that we schedule are going to put some pressure on us,” Coach Cody Miller stated.

The Lady Gobblers would follow up with another game on Tuesday at home against La Grange. Down 2-1 to start the third, La Grange rallied for six runs putting the mean green in a tough hole to climb out of losing 8-2. Sophomore Bromli Watson went 2-3 with an RBI double and single. Olivia Blank went 1-2 hitting a single and getting on base via the walk. Apodackis saw the base paths twice, walking twice. “We are going to continue to grind on defensive stuff and really work through our kink right now. We have to continue swinging the bat and providing some run support for our pitcher.” Miller said. “Keeping the kids dialed in to taking a step forward and not falling back is key right now."

The Lady Gobblers have one game scheduled for this week. They will face Uvalde at home Tuesday, March 22, first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
