Despite a rough first half, which was filled with missed shots and missed opportunities, coach Amy Crain never wavered in confidence. The Lady Gobblers jumped out to an early second half lead and held on to defeat Sinton, 31-27, in non-district Dec. 5.
“When we left the locker room, I said, “Let’s go get this game. Let’s go get it,”” Crain noted. “And they did. They went and got it.”
Intensity and energy were the two main objectives focused on by Crain at halftime.
“We were getting outhustled and outrebounded, which I thought was the difference in the game,” Crain noted. “There at the end, we gave up an easy layup, just a defensive lapse. I just told them, “We need to do what we do better.” That was pick up the intensity on the defensive side. We came out with more energy, and they did what I asked them to do and finished out the game on a positive note.”
