The Cuero Lady Gobblers officially began the 2022-2023 volleyball season last week traveling to Hallettsville for their season opener. The early morning action proved to be a positive after a three-set sweep over the Lady Brahmas (25-22, 25-9, 25-20).  Stat leaders included; Blocks: Cydine Johnson 3, Kills: Dani Saenz: 11, Aces: Cydine Johnson 3, Digs: Maddie Fink 14, Assists: Bromli Watson 25.

After starting the season off in the win column, Cuero would quickly regroup for some weekend tournament action in Wimberley at the Wimberley Text Fest Tournament. In game one, Cuero would face off with a familiar foe the Navarro Panthers, and were defeated in an extremely competitive three-set match losing by just a couple of possessions in each game (25-23, 25-23, 25-22). Stat leaders included; Kills: Dani Saenz 9, Digs: Maddie Fink 11, Assists: Bromli Watson 25, Blocks: Darcy Leinen 2, Aces: Maddie Fink 2; Bromli Watson 2.

Game two of the Wimberley tournament would feature the Lady Gobblers up against Glen Rose. After a hard-fought battle, the Lady Gobblers would fall in three sets (25-14, 25-16, 25-18). Stat leaders included; Kille Dani Saenz 7, Digs: Arissa Carbonara 8, Assists: Bromli Watson: 14, Blocks: Bromli Watson 1.5, Cydine Johnson 1.5, Aces: Arissa Carbonara 1.

Completing day one of the tournament, the Lady Gobblers squared off with Cedar Creek and defeated them 25-20, and 25-9 to advance to 2-2 on the early season. Stat leaders included: Kills: Dani Saenz 9, Digs: Dani Saenz 6, Assists: Bromli Watson 16, Blocks: Bromli Watson .5, Cydine Johnson .5, Aces: Arissa Carbonara 1.

The Lady Gobblers traveled back to Wimberley on Saturday to wrap up the tournament and finished 1-1 on the day.
