The Cuero Record

Looking for their first home win on the season last Tuesday night, The Cuero Lady Gobblers hosted the Uvalde Lobos. Coming in on a three-game losing skid, Cuero was looking to generate some momentum as they brace for a 10-day break before their next game on April 1.

Starting out, Cuero would strike first on two separate RBI doubles courtesy of Abigail Aguilar and Camdyn Lange. The Lobo bats would heat up in the third putting up four runs on five straight hits.

Quickly responding, Cuero would tie it at four on back-to-back two-out knocks from Bromli Watson and Lange. From there, Cuero would endure a rough fourth and fifth that saw Uvalde pull ahead 15-4.

Trailing in the bottom half of the fifth, Cuero would begin staging a glamorous late-inning comeback. Striking for two in the fifth and three in the sixth, the Mean Green trailed 15-9 with just three outs left to get for Uvalde.

“I don’t think we were even looking at the score. I think we were just having fun and executing. Once one person hits, everyone starts in and it starts a fire under everyone,” stated Watson.

As Kemper Tieken kept the Lobo bats quiet in the sixth and seventh, the Cuero bats continued to have their shot late.
