Lady Gobblers wrap up first half of district

Much like the first half of district play as a whole, there were ups and down for Cuero volleyball in last week’s match against Poteet. The Lady Gobblers united, though, for a convincing win over the Aggies in straight sets (25-17, 25-10, 25-19). After a quick start, which saw Cuero out in front 6-1, Poteet called a timeout and made their way back into the set. Ultimately, the Lady Gobblers were too much.
“I think we got a little back on our heels and a little not aggressive,” Cuero coach Misty Fletcher said of their demeanor following the timeout in the opening set.
“We stopped talking. We had to find our rhythm again. We kinda got out of that momentum we found at the beginning to get rolling pretty quickly.” Cuero found that rhythm again, and after taking the first set only allowed Poteet to win 10 points in the next set.
“We needed that coming off of Tuesday night [against Navaro], which was not our best showing,” Fletcher noted
