There is nothing Seely Metting cannot do. A four-sport athlete, Metting has a busy workload when it comes to sports. She competes in volleyball, basketball and softball, and does field events for the Kitty Kats track team participating in the pole vault and discus.

Traveling to the regional track meet this past Friday and Saturday, Metting qualified for region in both events. Already claiming the district title earlier this season in the pole vault, Metting would get things rolling Friday afternoon. Metting’s first vault was 8’-6” as she cleared it with ease. As things progressed she continued to increase the height over her next three attempts hitting 9’-0”, 9’-6”, and 9’-9”. Metting topped out at 10’-0” even, just one inch below her Yorktown High School record 10’-1”. Seely would finish third overall just narrowly missing an automatic bid to the state meet, but her season wasn’t over. Pending results from other regions around the state, there was still a shot at qualifying as a wild card birth. That would fall her way clinching a trip to the state meet in Austin.
