Metting named "Newcomer of the Year" in three sports

Crowned as the Region IV, District 29-2A 2018-2019 Newcomer of the Year in volleyball, basketball, and softball, Seely Metting began her sports career long before she was a freshman at Yorktown High School.
Starting out with Little League softball, moving on to multiple select basketball teams, and even heading to state (placing and winning) four years in a row for Punt, Pass, Kick prepared Metting for a successful first year of high school.
Since YHS is a 2A school, Metting explained that she played every sport back to back to back, taking time between practices for volleyball to get ready for basketball, or finishing softball practice to only go and complete a workout for track.
“Was it managed? Yes. Was it hard? Yes, “ said Stacey Metting, Seely’s mother during an interview.
However, the constant busy-ness does not lessen Metting’s spirit and drive to do well in each sport, or that she remained on the honor roll.
