Right in the hunt

Keeping the momentum rolling at this stage in the season is awfully important. Last week was another step in the right direction for the Lady Gobblers as they hit the road for two district games. Cuero would pick up wins on Monday over La Vernia 9-6, and finished the week off with a 13-6 win over Gonzales.

In Monday’s action at La Vernia, the game was tied 6-6 heading into extra innings. In the eighth, a Bromli Watson three-run homer pulled Cuero ahead and they never looked back. As a team, Cuero put together a 16-hit performance with five Lady Gobblers finishing the night with multiple hits. Watson led with four hits, and four runs batted in. McKayla Ybarra went 3-5 with three singles. Abigail Aguilar added two singles while driving in three runs. Olivia Blank would go 2-4 with a walk and also stole a base. Camdyn Lange added two hits going 2-5 with a single and a solo homer. Audrey Kremling smacked an RBI single as that rounded out the Cuero offense.

Following up that performance, Cuero went off for 13 hits and 13 runs Thursday in Gonzales. A Watson grand slam and a Lange solo homer contributed to five runs for the Lady Gobblers. Lange finished the night going 2-3 with a double, homer, and reached base two more times via the walk. McKayla Ybarra added a triple and a double with a run batted in.
