Clayre Pullin saved her best for last. In her final golf tournament as a high school athlete, the Cuero senior posted a season-best score of 83 at the Region IV-4A girls golf tournament at The Club at Colony Creek in Victoria, April 19-20. She opened with a 91 in the first round before the superb finish. She finished tied for 10th out of 90 golfers. Her final round score of 83 was the eighth best round of the day.
“I think I just settled down faster, got in my groove and just slowed down everything,” Pullin said of her improvement between rounds.
Her coach, Adam Arroyo, saw her short game improve tremendously in the final round.
“She putted a lot better today,” Arroyo said. “I think she only had one, three putt. Her drives were pretty much on point both days. Yesterday, they had a little bit more wind. Today, she was able to attack the greens more, and she did that, and she played really well.”
