Cuero’s junior league softball season came to a close in the Texas East state tournament finals at the hands of Columbus. That very same Columbus team went on to win the regional tournament in New Mexico before advancing all the way to the Junior League Softball World Series championship game on Aug. 3 in Kirdkland, Washington.
Though coming up one run short against the Southeast team from Tampa, Florida (7-6), it was a wonderful experience for a team with connections to Cuero.
“The players got to know a lot of the other teams,” John Henry Post of Cuero said. Post is the son of John Post (father), Elaine Post (step-mother), Laurie Ann Krueger (mother), and Keith Krueger (step-father).
“They became really good friends with the Canadian and Italian teams,” he added.
“Volunteers and the people of Kirkland did a great job. I couldn’t ask for a better experience. Three outs from a championship made it even better.”
