Already featuring a resume that consists of district champ, area champ, and regional champ in the shot put, Emagen Styra walked into the State Meet with one goal...bringing home the gold.

Working her way back from an injury in her junior season, Styra picked up the shot put for the first time since her freshman season.

“For Emagen to get there with all her setbacks is exciting. She didn’t throw her sophomore and junior seasons, so it would have been interesting to see what all she would have done,” stated head coach Carlton Williams.

Friday’s Conference 1A shot put state championship was a dominant performance from Styra. She ended the day out throwing her competition by one foot and some change to be crowned state champion.

“I feel that it was a pretty good day,” stated Styra. “I felt good overall. I was amazed by my throws, going out and ending the season like that it felt really good.”

The competition marks the last in her Nordheim career.

“It’s definitely a little sad. Looking back on it I know I have had some great accomplishments with Nordheim so I am happy to end it in that jersey.”
