Runs have been at premium for Lady Gobbler softball outside of their five of six wins at the Victoria West Tournament last month. In their home-opener Feb. 27 against La Grange, Cuero was held to one run in the 3-1 defeat.

In their three losses through February, the Lady Gobblers have been held to two total runs.

Cuero put the ball in play when facing La Grange but were often unfortunate when doing so.

“I thought we hit the ball hard right at people,” coach Cody Miller said. “That’s happened the last two games. We’ve had some opportunities. We hit the ball hard on a line and one the ground which is what I preach.”

An error at the start proved costly in the first inning, as La Grange jumped out to a 1-0 lead. Steady pitching on both sides and timely defense kept the game close all night.
