Weimar wins battle of Wildcats
By Jacob Stock
The Yorktown Wildcats traveled to Weimar this past Friday, Nov. 1, to take on a district opponent, the Weimar Wildcats. The Wildcat vs Wildcat showdown started with Weimar getting on the board first early in the first quarter, making it 7-0. Later in the quarter, the Yorktown defense would force a long field goal attempt that Weimar would miss, giving the offense the spark it needed early.
Yorktown would march down the field on a 74-yard drive that would be capped off by a Blake Boyd 6-yard run. The extra point attempt would be blocked. Yorktown trailed Weimar 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was one to forget for Yorktown as they put the ball on the ground twice. Both turnovers would lead to Weimar scores. At the half, Yorktown trailed 28-6.
