The Runge Yellowjackets went 6-4 last season and concluded the year as Bi-District Finalist. They are returning 8 offensive and 8 defensive starters from that squad. Key players to watch are Gavin Gutierrez and Antonio Lopez.  Guiterrez is a WR/DB and tallied 431 yards and 3 TDs receiving, 7INTs, and 1 TD. Lopez is OL/DL and is also a two-way starter. This year’s team has one district win against Pettus in a 39-7 blowout. This year’s squad is under new leadership with athletic director, Matt Wright.

Last year when these two teams met up, the Yorktown Wildcats were able to score 56 points while holding them to merely 33 points. The game is always somewhat of a rivalry. The fans can expect nothing less this year since it is senior night for the Wildcat team and the last game for the Runge squad. The Wildcat seniors include Drew Alexander, Ben Balderas, Kalen Barefield, De’Quan Clay, Jacob Guerrero, Kyron Lemke, Ethan Pompa, Dylan Respondek, Cesar Sarmiento, and Triston Silgero.

The Wildcat defense is ignited by Respondek and Guerrero who have 57 and 50 tackles, respectively. Guerrero leads the team with 4 sacks. The Wildcat offense is spearheaded by Alexander who has accumulated 2,083 passing yards, 20 TDs, 204 rushing yards, 4TDs.  Kalen Barefield leads the team in receiving yards.
