Wildcats struggle in district play
The Wildcat basketball team started off the week with a district win against the Pettus Eagles. This was the first home district game for the season. The Wildcats executed a dominating start, leading the game 23-9 after the first period. Seth Hahn and Drew Alexander both contributed ten points in the first period. The Wildcats extended their lead to 34-14 by half-time. During the third period, the Yorktown team scored 23 points. They were able to tack on another 21 points during the fourth. The Wildcats won 78-32. The stats include: Kalen Barefield 12 points, Alexander 25 points, Dalton Eckhardt 6 points, Cade Martin 2 points, Cesar Sarmiento 3 points, Blake Boyd 13 points, and Hahn 17 points. To conclude the week the Wildcats traveled to Woodsboro to face off with the Eagles. The Wildcats would lose 43-76. Alexander and Hahn both scored in the double digits.
