Friday’s Wildcat homecoming game against the Johnson Hays Jaguars was filled with numerous executed passes from sophomores Drew Alexander and Jacob Guerrero, ultimately resulting in the win for Yorktown by two-point conversion in overtime with a pass from Guerrero to senior Corey Pargmann; the score 50-49 in overtime.
The Jaguars, playing the Wildcats for the first time, started off with a quick 44-yard pass at the beginning of the first quarter, resulting in the first touchdown. The Wildcats responded just as fast with a three-yard run from senior Justin Denson.
With the extra point blocked by the Jaguars, they scored quickly again with a 92-yard kick-off return with 6:53 left in the first quarter. The Wildcats followed up with a 44-yard pass from Guerrero to Pargmann; senior Zack Latta tied up the game with the two-point conversion.
The back-and-forth would be standard for Friday’s game.
