Wildcats win over Weimer
Friday, Sept. 3, the Yorktown Wildcats recorded a win over Weimar in an away game. Much like the start of last week, the Wildcats jumped out to an early lead. However, this week the Wildcats would score their opening drive and never look back as they cruised to their first victory of the season.
With 10:59 still remaining in the first period, Drew Alexander and Kalen Barefield would hook up on a 12-yard pass for Yorktown’s first score. In a mere 49 seconds, the Wildcats would be back in the end zone, when DeQuan Clay recorded a 37-yard interception return. Towards the end of the first period, Barefield would have a 5-yard run for his second touchdown of the night.
Ahead 20-0 after the first quarter, the Weimar Wildcats would respond scoring to make it 20-8. The Yorktown team would put up 15 points in the second period. Barefield and Alexander would both score with an 11-yard and 14-yard run, respectively.
