Looking back at the run the Nordheim Pirates have had over the years it is hard to go unnoticed. This 2021-22 basketball season the Pirates made it their eighth straight season with a playoff appearance. They also claimed back-to-back district championships for the first time in school history after going 10-1 through district play. The graduating senior class has etched their way into the record books, and will always be remembered for helping create the culture that will be passed down to the underclassman.

One of those seniors is Braylon Williams who is a four-year varsity letterman on the Pirates basketball squad. After moving to Nordheim his freshman year, Braylon knew what the transition could bring.

“I knew coming here would better me. I can say I have grown as a person on and off the court tremendously being here in Nordheim,” Williams acknowledged. “Having people here keeping you on the right track, pushing you, it really helps you no matter what. It gives you a certain type of drive to see that people want to see you doing good.”

Braylon, who is the nephew of Pirates head coach Carlton Williams, has cherished the years spent learning and growing under coach Williams. “Being coached by family members is pretty great. You know that they want you to succeed and they don’t want you to fail so they are going to try and get you there,” said Braylon.
