Wilson's determination pays off

Danielle Wilson narrowly missed qualifying for state as a freshman two years ago. After not having a track season last year due to covid, Wilson was certainly determined to reach the state meet in Austin as a junior. The Nordheim Lady Pirate did just that with her second place finish at the regional meet.

Wilson finished sixth at the state meet last Saturday, May 8. Her best throw of the day was 114 feet, but it was the experience more than anything that stood out to her.

“It was really cool,” Wilson said. “I’ve never done this before. It was new to me. I’m just glad I was able to come and throw here.”

Admittedly, she was looking for a little more distance in her throws.

“I was hoping to PR [personal record], but I’m good with the throw I had,” she said. “I’m just glad I had a good throw.”
