On Friday evening, Your Lady Gobblers defeated La Vernia in four sets, with scores of: 17-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-20. Next up, they went in as the #1 seed in District and played #4 Boerne on Monday night in Sequin.

Kitty Kats Fall to Kenedy

The Yorktown Kitty Kat volleyball season came to an end last Tuesday, October 24, 2023, as they lost to the Kenedy Leopards in four games: 21-25, 25-22, 2325, 20-25. The loss ended Yorktown’s playoff hopes. Junior Malayshia Thomas had 13 kills and 10 digs. Junior Braleigh Dodds had 17 digs, six kills and three aces. Junior Nina Villarreal had 29 digs and three aces. Senior Kendyll Sinast had 16 digs. Sophomore Carly Weischwill had two blocks.

Wildcats Trail Early, Then Dominate Snook

The Yorktown football team clinched a playoff spot after defeating Snook at home during their last regular season game, 44-13. They placed fourth in District 14 2A Division II behind Falls City, Burton, and Louise. The Wildcats (3-5) had a shortened season only playing eight games. Early in preseason, inclement weather resulted in a canceled game against Stockdale and this upcoming week Yorktown was scheduled to play district opponent Runge before they forfeited their entire season. The Wildcats defeated Somerville in double overtime (3630) during the first district game of the season and put a nice finish on district with their win over Snook. In between, the Wildcats fell short to Burton (36-14), Falls City (38-0), and Louise (3322).

Your Cuero Fightin’ Gobblers varsity football team remained undefeated after rolling over the Caldwell High Hornets, 62-7 last Friday evening at Gobblers’ Stadium. The victory makes them 8-0 overall and 3-0 in District play.

Wildcats Stumble against Louise

The Yorktown Wildcat football team fell to the Louise Hornets in their district game on Friday, October 20. At halftime, the Wildcats were ahead 18-14 but were unable to contain the Hornets during the second half therefore falling short, 33-22. This loss brings the Wildcats to a 1-3 district record and 2-5 overall.

Yorktown Students Attend Fields of Faith

On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, the Yorktown High School and Junior High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) sponsored a trip to attend the Goliad Fields of Faith. Fields of Faith is a student-led event.

Kitty Kats Still Alive in Playoff Hunt

The Yorktown Kitty Kat Varsity Volleyball Team split its district games this past week and with one game remaining are still alive in the hunt for a playoff spot. On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, Yorktown hosted the Skidmore- Tynan Lady Bobcats, who have clinched first place in District 28-2A and are currently ranked #6 in the Class 2A State Volleyball Rankings.
