Gobblers win two, lose two

The Cuero Gobblers split four games last week with losses against Industrial and Banquette paired with big wins over Stockdale and Hallettsville. After dropping their first game on Thursday to Industrial by a score of 3-1, the Gobblers rallied back to knock off Stockdale by a final of 6-5 thanks to some late inning heroics.

Wins continue for Lady Gobblers

The Cuero Lady Gobblers continued their winning ways last week with a 9-4 drubbing of Brazos. The ladies from Cuero blasted the Brazos pitching arsenal for 14 hits in the contest including multi-hit performances from Lainee Ballin, Kennedy Garza, Bromli Watson, Audrey Kremling and Camdyn Lange.

Golf is back in full swing

The Yorktown golf team traveled to their first tournament of the season this past week in Weimar to play at the Weimar Golf Club. On Monday, Feb. 27, the Wildcats teed off on the nine hole golf course that is mainly tree lined, fairly fast, with very few traps. The well manicured course that was established in 1940 is 5,457 yards long and a par 72 course with a 68.6 rating.

Lady Gobblers dominate at Ingleside tourney, Pullin shines on the hill

The Lady Gobblers softball squad got their week to a blazing start last Tuesday as hurler Carley Pullin no-hit the ladies from Edna on the way to a 17-0 total tie-down of the Cowgirls. Pullin was on fire on the hill for Cuero as she gave up just a pair of walks and faced the minimum of 12 batters in four innings of work, while allowing no runs or hits in four innings of work.

Golf teams compete at Cobra Classic

The boys and girls of Cuero High golf competed in the Industrial Cobra Classic played at the links of Victoria Riverside this past week and came home with a pair of medalists and some very competitive scores.

Kitty Kats receive All-District honors

The Yorktown Kitty Kat Varsity basketball team finished up another excellent season, that included its fourth straight bi-district championship. The team also received several all-district honors.

Pirates fall to Fayetteville in playoffs, Lady Pirates take to the track

The Nordheim Pirates and Lady Pirates had a big week in sports. Beginning on Tuesday the Pirates hit the basketball court in a playoff game against Fayetteville. Freshman Jacob Torres was the top scorer for the Pirates with 28 total points and three rebounds. Senior Jaiden Garcia, playing his final game was strong under the basket as well scoring 10 points with five rebounds. It was a hard-fought game but ultimately the Pirates were defeated 54-69 ending their season.
