Your Cuero Fightin’ Gobblers varsity boys’ basketball squad had their season come to an end last week. They fell to the Boerne Greyhounds, 71-34.

Lady Gobblers Place 2nd at Ingleside Tournament

The Lady Gobblers Varsity Softball team placed 2nd at the Ingleside Riptide Tournament. They were 5-1 for the tournament and Carly Pullin was awarded All-Tournament selection. Together, Camdyn Lange, Julianna Cox, Audrey Kremling, Bromli Watson and Lainee Ballin combined for a total of 8 home runs to win the home run derby.

Wildcats Battled Hard All Season

On February 13, the Wildcats played their final game of the 20232024. Yorktown played against the Port Aransas Marlins. Starting for the Wildcats were seniors Dalton Eckhardt, Deagan Mungia, Braiden Silgero, Camerin SanMiguel, and Paul Rodriguez. The Marlins were captained by Ryan Kuykendall, an outside shooter that led the team offensively accumulating 5 three-pointers in the first half. Their offense traditionally relies heavily on outside shooters. Kuykendall was not the only deep threat as Ryan Reeves and Shane Stawar each also contributed a three-pointer. Hunter Stunz used his height and tallied double digit points from the post position.

Yorktown Tracksters Compete at Runge

The Yorktown Kitty Kat and Wildcat High School teams competed this past week at the Runge Invitational Relays with much success. The Kitty Kats Varsity placed 3rd as a team, while the JV Girls placed 1st as a team.

Lady Gobblers Softball Start Season Off Strong

Your Fightin’ Lady Gobblers Varsity softball team has started out the 2024 season in dominating fashion, going 5-0-1 as of the writing of this story. They began the season with an 11-1 victory over Yoakum. This game was called early due the run rule. They then participated in a 3-day tournament in Somerset February 15th through the 17th. On the 15th, they began with a 13-2 drubbing of Cotulla. They then defeated Pearsall 11-7.
