Yorktown Powerlifters Compete At Kenedy

On February 1 2024, the Yorktown Kitty Kats and Wildcats Powerlifting teams competed in the Kenedy Powerlifting Meet with much success and here are the results. Kitty Kats: Gabi Romans finished in 2nd place in the 97 pound weight class, Addison Rosales finished in 2nd place in the 132 pound weight class, Zoe Irvin finished in 8th place in the 148 pound weight class, Vivian Romans finished in 9th place in the 148 pound weight class, Zaria Draughn finished in 7th place in the 165 pound weight class and Mariah Alvarez finished in the 7th place in the 220 weight class.

East Matagorda Bay SLOW. 58 degrees. Lots of freshwater flushing the fish out of the back lakes and Caney Creek, but the bay can be difficult to fish due to inclement weather. Kitty Kats Edge Out Three Rivers

After having a bye on Tuesday, the Yorktown Kitty Kat Varsity Basketball team hosted the Three Rivers Lady Bulldogs on Friday, January 26, 2024, and were able to snap a five-game district losing streak with a 29-26 win.

Lady Gobblers Continue to Dominate District

Your Fightin’ Lady Gobblers Varsity basketball team has been blowing away their competition and as of this writing, they are 28-3 overall and 8-0 in District play. Their dominance is showing in their scores. To begin this year, they have defeated John F. Kennedy 78-7, Gonazales 70-28, SA Memorial 97-22 and YWLA 60-23.

Kitty Kats Drop Two More Games

The Yorktown Kitty Kats started the second half of District 31-2A action with a loss at home to Woodsboro and a loss on the road to Port Aransas. On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, Yorktown hosted the Woodsboro Lady Eagles, who they had beaten twice earlier this season.

Wildcats Fall to Woodsboro

On Wednesday, Jan. 17 the Wildcats and Woodsboro Eagles were in a neck and neck battle through the first period. In an all out team effort, the Yorktown squad utilized the final minute of the quarter to piece together a comeback over the Eagles. Dalton Eckhardt’s three pointer went off the glass and in from the left side to tie the game, awarding Deagan Mungia with the assist. The following possession Sam Forbes would assist Ryan Knostman from high post to low post for an underneath the basket shot, giving the Wildcats the lead, 12-7.

East Matagorda Bay FAIR. 58 degrees. January and February are typically great fishing months, but anglers will have to fish between high pressure days. High pressure has slowed the trout bite. Cuero High’s Cheer Team Dazzles at State Championships

Cuero High School Cheer beat their school record, placing in the top 15 in the 4A DII category, at the UIL Texas High School Spirit State Championships, held in Fort Worth, January 4 – 6th. Over 50 teams in their division showcased a band chant, fight song and crowd leading performance. “These girls have worked incredibly hard, and it definitely showed. They are the highest placing team since Cuero started competing at UIL Spirit Competition,” stated Varsity Cheer Coach, Ashley Helweg. “I am incredibly proud of all of the hard work they’ve put in this year.” The cheer team made school history in 2022, being the first Cuero team to advance to state finals, placing 18th in the state. This year the team beat that record, placing 15th.
