On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the Kitty Kats traveled to Woodsboro to open play in District 31-2A. Yorktown jumped out to an early 8-1 lead and, after a couple of Woodsboro 3-pointers, held a 12-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Kitty Kats outscored the Lady Eagles to extend their lead to 26-9 at halftime. The second half was a defensive struggle, as Woodsboro outscored Yorktown, 14-12. However, the Kitty Kats still prevailed, 3823. Junior Malayshia Thomas and Nina Villarreal led Yorktown with nine and eight points respectively. Senior DJ Maciel added six points,while junior Laynie Boyd had five. Freshman Kendall Sievers came off the bench to score four key points. Maciel led the Kitty Kats in rebounding with eight, while Boyd had seven. Villarreal had eight steals, while Boyd and junior Madalyn Rowlands had five apiece.
