Groups explain needs for HOT funds
City Council heard from local groups about their 2025 applications for Hotel Occupancy Tax funds at the June 9 regular meeting and approved a resolution for a $4.2 million sidewalk project. Mayor Pro Tem Mitch Adams led the council meeting in the absence of Mayor Emil Garza.

VFW Roof Donation
Cuero’s VFW, Post 3972, installed a new roof earlier this year, costing approximately $60,000. To help with those costs, the Cuero Economic Development Corporation donated $10,000 to the post members on Thursday, June 12. Legion Auxiliary honors veterans, helps students
On May 19, 2025, American Legion Auxiliary members placed flags on all military gravesites at four cemeteries in Westhoff for Memorial Day. Sue Hilbrich provided 135 flags that were distributed to the cemeteries. Those who put out flags were Cheryl Bunjes, Cindy Burnett, Kristye Kahlich, Ruth Killough, Melinda Weikel, and Terri Boothe.

FFA students win state Ag Mechanic awards
Two Yorktown FFA students have earned state ranking for their skills in Ag Mechanic Fabrication and Design. Rylan Rau was awarded a Gold Ranking and placed 2nd in the state for his Agricultural Services Proficiency Award and Garrett Menn was awarded a Silver Ranking and placed in the top 12.
