Join in on the fun during the most wonderful time of the year for Cuero’s 10th Annual Christmas in Downtown Cuero celebration, presented by Cuero Main Street. The holiday event kicks off on Friday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. and will pick up again on Saturday, Dec.10 from noon until 10 p.m. From the twinkling lights of the 30-foot Christmas tree to the nostalgic whirrings of the old-fashioned carousel, every inch of this holiday wonderland is sure to bring out a smile and a sense of joy.

Not only will you find beautiful festive Christmas decorations, but also an ice skating rink, decorated storefronts, a festive pharmacy, and our beloved medical museum – all are sure to provide a unique and memorable experience in downtown Cuero. With exciting attractions like a giant Snowzilla inner tube slide, Rock Climbing Wall, Petting Zoo, and so much more, there’s truly something for everyone at the annual Christmas in Downtown Cuero event.

“The annual Holiday Festival in historic downtown Cuero is a truly magical experience,” said Sandra Osman, Cuero Main Street Director. “Every year, visitors come from far and wide to take part in this festive holiday event. To see the streets of Downtown Cuero filled with smiling children and their families, enjoying the magic of the Christmas season, is a must-see and we invite you to experience it Dec. 9 - 10 in Cuero.”

Mayor Sara Post Meyer echoed Osman’s comments. “Christmas in Downtown Cuero is one of the most well-attended events of the year. Families travel from miles away to take part in spreading Christmas cheer. I personally can’t wait to take a carriage ride down the historic streets of Cuero and see all the beautiful lights,” said Cuero Mayor Meyer.

The event also features a Christmas Market, full of unique gift ideas and decorations – perfect for the holiday season, said Osman. She added that there is also live entertainment to help attendees get in the festive spirit, as well as late-night shopping opportunities in downtown Cuero.

The entertainment stage will feature Lady Beatrice Ward & Angelic Voices Gospel Singers from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday night. And, Saturday evening from 6 to 7 p.m., the Nutcracker Stilt Walkers and Jumping Elf will perform an exhilarating display. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to watch and enjoy talent from local schools and organizations.

“Don’t forget, Santa and his helpers will be making appearances all weekend long. Plus, take a ride through town in a Horse and Carriage in front of the enchantingly decorated courthouse,” said Osman.

Performances are free to attend, but prices for the event attractions vary, starting at $20 for wristbands to $2 per ticket for children’s attractions. All tickets will be available for sale at the centrally placed Ticket Booth. Sheets of $1 tickets can also be purchased, as well as $5 individual horse and carriage tickets. $5 Mobile Escape Room tickets are available for teens on West Main, on Saturday, from 2-9 p.m.

With all of the fun to be had, Osman encourages attendees to be mindful of street closures during this time and parking areas. “Please note that East Main, as well as South and North Gonzales Streets, will be closed starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8 for the setting up of the festival. The streets will remain closed until the end of the festival and will reopen on Sunday, Dec. 11,” said Osman. She thanked the public for their understanding and their attention to these street closures.

Presented by Cuero Main Street, volunteers, and community sponsors, the festival annually brings back crowd pleasers as well as new and exciting activities each year. As one of the most delightful and exciting holiday events for the whole family, Christmas in Downtown Cuero hosts over 5,000 visitors a year. Since 2013, the holiday tradition transforms the downtown area into a magical holiday destination and is sure to stir magical feelings during the season.
