Yorktown ISD held a question and answer session at the High School auditorium on Thursday evening at 6 pm. Approximately 23 people were in attendance including school board members Jeff Sievers, Chris Romans and John Young, teachers, parents and concerned citizens.

My candidacy is a continuation of hard work and dedication to the citizens of Precinct 1 as demonstrated under the recent guidance and supervision of former Precinct 1 Commissioner, Curtis Afflerbach. As a candidate for DeWitt County Commissioner Precinct 1, I will strive to provide excellent service to the taxpayers and citizens of DeWitt County. I plan to support the community members and to be their voice in day to day county operations and extended county projects.

Texas Transportation Commission approves Yoakum District projects during the January 17th meeting At their recent meeting in Austin, the Texas Transportation Commission awarded maintenance and improvement projects in Tx-DOT’s Yoakum Districts to Colorado, DeWitt, Fayette, Gonzales, and Victoria Counties for a total of $954,911,661.02. Colorado CountyGibson & Associates, Inc of Balch Springs, TX was awarded the $8,899,649.39 contract for bridge maintenance on SH 71 from US 90 UP RR Eastbound and Westbound to ,ETC.

Celebrating 175 Years: Bedroom Community

Yorktown, in the past few years, has been referred to as a “bedroom community”. This simply means that many of the citizens live here but they travel to near-by cities and communities to work, and since vehicles make it convenient to travel, this has become the norm. One near-by city is Victoria, where employment is easier to find.

Dear Editor, One could admit that it takes a lot for a higher court to take the time to reverse a judgment and reprimand the lower court and Assistant DA for making it a case in the first place. I am writing to you as a concerned citizen of our community regarding the upcoming election for the position of District Attorney.
