A Hobbs Halloween Never Disappoints

Body
This will be the 11th year that the Hobbs family of Cuero dresses up in some amazing costumes for Halloween. And according to Bethany Hobbs, her husband Jeff really didn’t have a choice in the matter, that is, if he wanted her to say yes to his proposal in 2007.

Local Couple Complete “Walks to Remember.”

Body
Have you ever uttered the words, “I feel like I’ve walked all over this town.” Well, if you’re Cuero residents, John and Jennifer Hudgeons, you’d be correct, literally. Recently, the two retired school teachers decided it might be fun and interesting to walk every block in the City of Cuero, and they turned what some might see as a “crazy idea,” into reality, and with it, they gained a whole new love and respect for the town they’ve lived in most of their lives.

News-View In Brief

Body
Wreaths Across America (WAA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2007 to continue and expand theannualwreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine wreath maker Morrill Worcester in 1992. The organization’s yearlong mission – Remember the fallen, Honor those that serve, Teach the next generation the value of freedom – is carried out, in part, each year by coordinating wreathlaying ceremonies in December at thousands of participating locations in all fifty states and beyond. The Cuero Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary is coordinating efforts with WAA to bring this same beautiful 14inch fresh and fragrant balsam wreath with a red velvet bow available for veterans’ graves in the Cuero area. They can be purchased for $17.00 each by calling Melissa Buenger-Oehlke at 361.275.3627 or 361.275.4721. Orders and payment must be received by her on Wednesday, November 15. Arrival time of the wreaths (trucked from Maine) will be in mid-December – in time for the wreath ceremony in our area in the Military Section of Memory Gardens Cemetery near Victoria on Saturday, December 16, at 11:00 am. The public is invited to attend.
